'Best of British' Enhances Home in in Malaysia

When one of Malaysia's high profile businessmen wanted to enhance his home, he looked to the 'best of British' to achieve it - making it what is believed to be the first project of its kind in the Far Eastern nation. The favoured British method for home enhancement - the addition of a conservatory - was the solution, fabricated by Bolton based Rooftec.

The brief to Rooftec was to design a 6.2m x 6.1m conservatory that would complement the aesthetics of the house, and that would be comfortable to relax in all year, despite the region's climate. The design had to take into account the site limitations - ofa protruding balcony. Rooftec's solution was to create a hexagonal free-standing conservatory with a 'northlight' above, using the Aztec conservatory roof system, and glaze the roof elements with 10 sheets of 25mm Marlon ST Longlife Heat Guard Opal™.

Rooftec director Shaun Rosimus, observed 'Every element of the conservatory needed to be premium quality. The balcony caused a potential problem, as to join the conservatory to the house with a box gutter- the accepted way- would have meant the roof pitch would be too shallow from both a performance and aesthetic aspect. Using the Aztec roof system, which is known for its simplicity, flexibility and integrity of design, meant we could create a stunning conservatory quickly and efficiently on site: the whole build took less than a week!

'As far as we know, it's the first conservatory of its type in Malaysia- maybe the first of many! It reassured us to know that the Aztec system will withstand huge wind pressure, and that Marlon ST Longlife is used in other regions ofthe Far East because it is proven to withstand typhoons!'

Rooftec claims to be the biggest conservatory fabricator in the North West, and is expanding rapidly, prompting its relocation twice within a year, to larger premises because of a doubling of production. It now provides a full conservatory design and fabrication service, including supply and cutting to size of the roof glazing.
