Bellway Backs Beaufort

Leading national housebuilder Bellway Homes has chosen Beaufort’s aluminium system for new apartments at Neptune Quay on the former Ipswich docks.

Aluminium windows were specified for their superior durability and weather resistance, a critical requirement given the development’s exposed waterfront location.

The properties at Neptune Quay consist of 56 one- and two-bedroomed apartments, built to a contemporary architectural design. Corby-based Quantum Windows fabricated the 250 casement windows for the project using Beaufort’s 70mm aluminium deep direct fix outer frame with a slim transom. Installation was completed by local new build specialist, Portico GB Ltd of Bury St Edmunds.

Windows for the apartments were supplied internally glazed to offer optimum security, and in a gleaming white polyester powder paint finish that is resistant to pollution and dirt. Requiring just an occasional wash down, the system offers a low maintenance solution – which is another major benefit for apartment blocks like Neptune Quay. Furthermore, all windows and doors in Beaufort’s aluminium product range comply with the stringent requirements of Document L in both domestic and non-domestic applications.

Established for 10 years, Quantum Windows operates throughout England and Wales from three sites in Corby. The company manufactures Beaufort’s aluminium system as part of a comprehensive portfolio of doors and windows, which includes PVCu.

Quantum’s weekly current production capacity stands at 1,200 PVCu units and while it also fabricates up to 75 aluminium frames a week for specialist applications, as Colin Lee, Sales & Marketing Manager at Quantum Windows explains, the company is now looking to grow this side of its business. ‘Demand for aluminium windows and patio doors is definitely on the increase, particularly in the new build and commercial sectors. The Beaufort system is a high quality solution and Beaufort’s delivery service has been excellent, which is especially critical for new build projects like Neptune Quay where contractors often have to work to tight schedules.’
