Installer Samrose Provides Food for Thought
Samrose Windows & Conservatories has given its competitors food
for thought, after recently installing two K2 roof lanterns at
the Morritz Arms Hotel in Greta Bridge, near Barnard Castle.
Samrose, founded by Ian Johnson in 1993, was approached by the Morritz
Arms to design an installation to replace two skylights in the roof
of its restaurant. The aim of the installation was to improve the appearance
of the restaurant by providing the room with extra warmth and light
during the day, but also to provide guests with an opportunity to dine
by moonlight in the evening.

The installation involved the fitting of two K2 double gabled Edwardian
lantern roofs of sections of 2.28m by 4.13m incorporating two K2 roof
vents. Samrose was also asked to install eight glazed double doors inside
the hotel as part of the internal refit of the restaurant.
The K2 lantern roofs and roof events were supplied to Samrose by Advantage,
a K2 key dealer who has been established since 1992. Advantage has BBA
accreditation, is one of the largest independent roof fabricators in
the country and offers a five-day turnaround on all roofs.
Ian Johnson, Managing Director of Samrose comments: 'We were very excited
by the challenge of designing this installation, as it was necessary
to integrate new glazed roof sections within the structure and surroundings
of an older building. We decided to fit an Edwardian style of installation,
which adds light and space to the restaurant area while maintaining
the atmosphere and environment of the hotel.'
Sally
Fielding, Managing Director of K2 comments: 'K2 would like to congratulate
Samrose on their innovative and stylish design for the Morritz Arms
Hotel. K2s products are suitable for use in a variety of installations,
both domestic and commercial and we are delighted that we were able
to be involved in this bespoke installation.'
