Kolor-fast-uK goes Green

Kolor-fast-uK, the specialist PVCu colour coating company, has provided an award-winning solution for the Greenside Group. All windows, doors and fascias at the Group’s head office in Ashton under Lyne have been supplied in Reed Green to complement the company’s name. The two-storey building on a new business park has since won a regional design award by Thameside Civic Council for Building Of The Year.

Experienced local installer, Tame Valley Windows in Stockport, completed installation of the £35,000 project totalling over 76 windows plus entrance doors.

‘The original specification was for powder coated aluminium, mainly because the architect thought this was the only option given the special colour requirement, but the estimate for this was considered too high,’ explains Ian Fenton, Managing Director of Tame Valley Windows. ‘We heard about the project and submitted a quote for colour coated PVCu to provide a more cost-effective alternative and won the contract,’ he adds.

Classic casement windows with top hung sashes were specified for Greenside, fabricated from WHS Halo System10 profile. Fabricator, Optimum Windows, supplied pre-machined, virgin welded frames to Kolor-fast’s Darlington facility for colour coating. Reed Green is one of the full range of standard RAL and BS colours available from Kolor-fast, which can also supply special colour matches to order.

Windows throughout the Greenside Group’s new headquarters have also been fitted with Pilkington’s green tinted solar control glass. This not only ensures a cool and comfortable environment for those working inside, it also further enhances the building’s smart corporate colour scheme.

Kolor-fast-uK is the Licensed Applicator in the North-East for Avko which mixes and distributes a range of specialist paints. Applied under controlled conditions at Kolorfast’s factory, the coatings bond both physically and chemically to the substrate and are guaranteed for up to 10 years. The paint’s advanced composition also allows the surface to retain sufficient flexibility to bend with the material to which it is bonded, providing a long lasting, highly durable weatherproof finish that will not crack, flake or peel.
