Sheerframe
Prepares to make a Splash at Alton Towers
UK systems company LB PLastics,
contracted by Shepherd Construction Ltd, is hoping to make a splash when
guests come flooding into the famous theme park in June. Following the
success of the installation of Sheerframe windows at the original Alton
Towers hotel, the new Caribbean themed hotel and water park promises to
be every bit as spectacular.
Each of the 216 themed bedrooms at Splash Landings hotel features Sheerframe
sash windows specifically designed to fit the Caribbean décor.
The windows have restricted opening for the safety of guests, but can
be opened by a member of staff using a unique key, allowing them to be
cleaned from inside the building.

In addition to the bedroom block, Sheerframe windows have been incorporated
into the three-storey interface wall between the hotel and the water park.
The wall has been designed to look like an Hispanic Caribbean street nestled
into a rock face and features oak and white finish reversible mock sash
windows in the main, with some extraordinary parallelogram and trapezoid
constructions seemingly randomly interspersed to give an authentic evocation
of the 17th or 18th century world of the buccaneer.
