Vodafone Connection for SE Controls

Automatic window opening specialist SE Controls has played an integral role in delivering one of the principal requirements for the creation of a quality working environment to accommodate up to 3,000 Vodafone employees at its extensive new world headquarters on the 37 acre Old Newbury Showground site. The development is due for completion at the end of this year.

The expansive development, designed by Fletcher Priest Architects, comprises seven independent buildings each with two sections joined by an impressive atrium.

Lichfield-based SE Controls has established a reputation in recent years in delivering total natural ventilation solutions to an extensive portfolio of blue chip clients. Completion of the installation of the company's own OSO modular control system met the exacting standards of the 51,600sqm project and the product is establishing itself as an industry standard.

'Again we've been fortunate to be involved in another exceptionally high profile project which is tailormade for our OSO control system. It adds to an already impressive project portfolio throughout the UK and internationally now,' explained SE Controls' Managing Director Will Perkins.

SE Controls installed the SELA S linear actuators to high level opening vents in the 'street' areas of each of the buildings. The actuators open and close the vents proportionally and automatically on receipt of signals from the complex's Building Management System to maintain a fresh and comfortable environment within the communal areas.

Due to the scale of the development, several OSO controllers were centralised within one control panel in each of the seven buildings. All control panels contain battery back-up to ensure full operation in the event of mains power failure.
