Taking a Welcome Break from Reality
As the hysteria builds in the run up to Glassex, we take a bit of a frivolous aside in reporting on two other ways of making an exhibition of yourself. I am talking about Web Cams and Reality TV. The Office Christmas Party, which was shown on BBC2, featured the directors and staff of a Coventry based conservatory company as they prepared for their office party. If you missed it, we have revisited some of the more hilarious moments; if you saw it, I'm sure it will make you laugh all over again...

Secondly, what are we to do now ITV's 'I'm a Celebrity, Get me out of Here' has come to an end. No Wife Swap, no Boss Swap, no Holiday Swap. It's a Reality TV wilderness! Never fear, Veka has installed a web cam on its site so we can all keep tabs on progress of building work on the company’s new 200,000 square feet distribution and logistics centre. Since I have been tuning in I have seen a small fire, several people leaving work early and a couple of articulated lorries narrowly missing a parked car as they sped round a dangerous bend. It's great viewing!

Tony HigginI should also flag up this week a letter we have received from Mike Leonard, the chairman of the Conservatory Manufacturers Association. My first reaction was that the CMA is a bit of a retrograde step when you consider the efforts that the GGF went to to bring the former Conservatory Association under its wing. However, the CMA has got some interesting things to say, even if it might be seen to represent 'the other half' of the industry. But sometimes a new voice can make itself heard just by daring to be different (but then we would say that...)

We have 56 new stories this week and one new advertiser - Float Glass Industries – whose spanking new website I hope you will visit. Our Glassex Preview has been further updated and now includes stand details on 45 companies. If you are exhibiting and are not yet in our preview, please email text and images to news@theglazine.com.
