An Audible Sigh of Relief!
There was an audible sigh of relief at the close of proceedings at Glassex 2004 on Wednesday. Not the usual sigh of weary exhibitors looking forward to a return home and an early night, but the sound of companies that had taken the plunge in the face of some damning pre-show comments, and had seen their confidence rewarded. The organisers too, have reason to smile as the pre-audit figure of 9,045 was announced.

While lower than last year (10.703) – which was also a drop on the year before – the attendance was commendable given the size of the show, and the number of distractions that were available to the potential visitor. There was also a feeling that visitors were spending more time in the halls, a testament to the Glassex Challenge, and an informative Seminar Programme.

There were also some positive reports from exhibitors new and old which can be seen here. All this combined with suggestions of a return of some of the major systems companies next year, meant that we can look forward to Glassex 2005, with rather more optimism than was first thought.

Meanwhile, the G 04 Awards scheme is building up a head of steam with the announcement that glass giant Pilkington Glass has signed up as a sponsor to the event, bringing the total of sponsors to nine. On line entry is available now at www.g-awards.com.
