WELCOME TO THE GL@ZINE @ GLASSEX: DAY 2

With some 200 exibitors and over 85 new products on show, Glassex 2002 got off to a fantastic start on Sunday, with visitor numbers topping 3,500.

"It's been an excellent first day,” said exhibition director Joanne Smith. “Visitor numbers were up on last year, and more importantly the visitors were in a buying spirit. People are really keen to buy and are looking for new products. We know the market for conservatories is buoyant, but the interest in other glass and glazing products appears to be way ahead of pundits expectations for the market."

The Glassex Daily Prize Draw, for attendees who pre-registered, was based on the theme of the forthcoming World Cup this summer. The results were:

First prize of a widescreen TV was won by Mr W Stanford of Glasshouse. Second prize of a Playstation 2 and FIFA 2002 game was wone by Mr M K Taylor of Chapel Glass & Glazing. Third prize of an official England shirt, England scarf and football video was wone by Mr K Fortune of LF Replacement Windows.

If you do make it to Glassex, there will be a warm welcome (and cold Champagne) on stand C050, where I and some colleagues will be happy to explain how The Gl@zine can help your business.

I hope to see as many of you as possible in the coming few days.

MASTERFRAME has unveiled two modifications to its range at this year’s show
MASTERFRAME, manufacturers of the Bygone Collection of custom-made PVC-U sliding sash windows, has unveiled two modifications to its range at this year’s show.

First is an outward-opening internal staff bead, designed to hide the brush pile and streamline the window’s appearance. Also new is an electronically operated gearing suitable for any Masterframe sliding sash window, which can be fitted retrospectively. "It was particularly designed with disabled customers in mind, although it could be useful in many installations," Masterframe MD Alan Burgess told The Gl@zine.

Masterframe also launched a new and very competitively priced sash window designed for new build properties. The cost saving comes from the basic specification and the smaller frame size: just 133cm as opposed to the usual 146cm.

Throughout the show Masterframe is also giving visitors to their stand (CO41) a free CD which carries a full sash window guide to the new Document L regulations.

Alan Burgess, MD of sash window specialist manufacturer Masterframe, has set up a new company specialising in secondary glazing. It’s called, appropriately, Framemaster.
