Also, having had to fork out over £10m in exceptional costs this year, there may be more to come, with another $10m being set aside pending final determination in the Patio Enclosures case in the USA. Ultraframe has reduced its bank debt though - from £27.78m in 2004 to £23.96m - and must think there is more fat to trim as it has appointed Rothschilds to carry out a strategic review.

Synseal Advert

Ultraframe was worst hit in the UK, of course, with volumes down by an alarming 25% (this has slowed to 22% in the past two months), while sales in the USA remain fairly static. 'The board anticipates lower sales and operating profit in the UK in 2006, albeit at a lower rate of decline than in 2005'. The group continues to expect good growth in North America 'but profit progression will be restrained as we uprate the sales and marketing programmes to stimulate franchise sales growth'.

• Finally, we shall not be sending out a Gl@zine on either the 27th December, or on January 3rd, so you will be receiving the last one before Christmas next week, on December 20th, and will get the next one after that on January 10th.
