It proved to be an inconclusive exercise, for while they have all suffered, naturally, most have rode the storm without major catastrophe.
This is, I feel, in itself indicative of the strength of the glass and window industry as it continues to buck the economic trends, and will always be the case while house prices maintain their current increase and the price of window installations continues to fall.






Pilkington, Heywood Williams and Ultraframe all showed small losses while the Darby Group and Titon have remained relatively steady.
They are shortly to be joined by the UK’s only manufacturer of photovoltaic cells, Intersolar. This Bridgend based company hopes to raise £18m when it floats on the AIM next month. Further details can be found at www.intersolar.com
