NO! It's that time of year again
Yes, you know what I mean, the chaotic fortnight (month?) around the end of December/beginning of January when companies bury their dead. It's the best time of the year for a Voluntary Liquidation, since most people are too busy coping with drunk secretaries and absentee workers to notice that one of their suppliers has gone bust. |

The good news is that by the time you get back to normal after the new year that very same supplier is trading again. Usually with a slightly different name - perhaps with the suffix '2003'. And funnily enough, the same people are phoning you up for your order, the same directors are running the company, and they are operating out of the same premises with the same machinery. |

So who loses out? Usually just two or three suppliers, the ones the company can easily replace. This type of Phoenix company is still considered - by English law - as acceptable. The burden of litigation is upon the suppliers who have lost money and most companies not only take the losses on the chin (rather than make lawyers even richer) but end up doing business again with the company which in most cases deliberately shafted them. 'Better the Devil you Know' is the way we justify it. |
