| Which left me rather gobsmacked when the winning building - the Laban Dance centre in South East London - turned out to be glazed mainly in polycarbonate. If anyone can furnish me with the full spec of this building I would be grateful, but I do rather wonder how even the best quality polycarbonate will stand the test of time compared to glass. | ||||||||||||

Of
course, polycarbonate has got a lot cleverer over the years - with solar
control, low-e and easy-clean versions competing with glass at the cutting
edge of the market. And in some cases - such as the illusionist David
Blaine's self-imposed confinement in a suspended box near Tower Bridge
in London - polycarbonate was an obvious choice over glass because of
the higher strength to weight ratio. PS:
