BROCHURE FEATURES NEW STYLISH SHEERFRAME PATIO

A new four page brochure from UK systems company LB Plastics gives details of the all new Sheerframe patio door system, available in bar length and kit form.
'The new patio doors range, with low-emissivity safety glass, meets all the requirements of the Building Regulations and comfortably achieves the new Wm2/K performance requirements set under Part L of the regulations. At 1.77Wm2/K its performance is substantially better than that achieved by traditional aluminium patios.' says the company.

Strength is provided by steel reinforcing in both the outer frame and the inner leaf, using specially designed heavy-duty steel jointing mullions in the middle to ensure minimum deflection even in strong gales. The Sheerframe patio door offers exceptional security too featuring a five-point hook lock bi-directional system which prevents unhooking of the sash by levering. The new security lock comes with a one-piece keep and a six pin anti pick, anti drill gold finish cylinder.

NEW POLYTOP COLOUR CHART FROM SEAC

Fastener manufacturer SEAC has just published a colour chart for its Polytop range of colourful polymer-headed steel fasteners.

With 48 standard colours to choose from, Polytop fasteners blend with base materials and as a result they can be used in visible positions where ordinary fasteners would need extra finishing. Because they fix and finish in one step, they can also cut labour costs.

In addition to the standard range, customised colours can also be manufactured to order for example, when the Polytops need to match a corporate colour. For special orders of this type minimum quantities apply.

Polytop screws are supplied in all common screw formats for industrial assembly, plus wood screws for the building trade. Sizes range from 6 gauge to 12 gauge (M3 to M6). Original socket-drive Polytops, with anti-tamper bi-hexagonal heads, are available in all common screw types. A new series of socket drive screws with a standard 6-point hex head has also been introduced for non-secure applications such as conservatory construction.

For single-step fixing of wood and PVCu building panels, SEAC makes Polytop annular nails and pins with shatterproof polymer heads. Light duty pins are supplied in lengths of 20 to 40 mm, while the heavy gauge nails come in 50 and 65mm lengths.

Originally developed for joining pre-finished sheet metal, Polytop rivets have now been adopted for a wide variety of assembly tasks because they avoid the need for extra finishing. Available in lengths from 6mm to 40mm, these fasteners have a 0.5mm to 35mm raw material grip range.

DURAFLEX LAUNCHES THE KIT 2

With the introduction of the Kit CD-ROM at Glassex 2000, Duraflex provided its
customers with the means to create their own publicity material at the touch of a button. Now the systems supplier has launched Kit 2, a new pro-active version.

Available free of charge to Duraflex fabricators, this latest CD provides even more templates from which to choose. In addition to the brochure and four different
'drop card' designs of Kit 1, Kit 2 includes showroom posters, mailers and newspaper adverts. The key difference between the two CDs is that all the templates on Kit 2 are Microsoft Word compatible and can therefore be amended and personalised for greater flexibility. Once changed, the files can be saved to
disk and passed to a printer to produce the desired literature in the appropriate quantity.

Representing an innovative approach to customer support literature, Kit 1 and Kit 2 give fabricators a professional and cost effective marketing solution that eliminates artwork origination costs. The CDs also contain a photo library with numerous images of various internal and external installations. Fabricators can use the layouts provided as a guide and then customise them as required, such as adding their own logo, text and local pictures.

The Kit concept gives Duraflex fabricators total control over the look and feel of their promotional campaign, with the opportunity to create a consistent image across mailers, newspaper adverts and literature. 'With the ability to highlight specific product ranges or areas of their business, the end result is guaranteed to reflect the company's individuality and give them a competitive advantage through visual differentiation.' explains Neil Roberts, Director of Marketing at Duraflex.

The Kit is part of an integrated marketing package developed by Duraflex to meet customers' individual needs and budgets. 'We offer a wide range of options that can be mixed and matched, from overprinted brochures and the Kit CDs, right through to the sewices of a professional design agency,' adds Neil.

The Kit CDs have proved highly popular and Duraflex already has plans to expand the facility even further with extra features, more photographs and lead generating initiatives.

BIAT 2001/2002 Directory of Practices and 2000/2001 Annual Report

The Directory identifies all practices which have BIAT members as principals, partners or directors, and who have been placed on the Institute's Register of Practice.

The Annual Report outlines the achievements of the Institute over the last year, which has been very active and successful for us.

Fully qualified Architectural Technologists are experts concerned primarily with the sound technical performance of buildings. They are specialists in building design and construction and can initiate and complete a building project from conception through to final certification. They undertake a wide range of work including domestic, commercial and industrial projects.

To achieve the status of MBIAT, individuals must satisfy the Institute that they have achieved the high standards of education, training, and monitored professional practice required, and that they maintain professional indemnity insurance.

The Directory and Report are available to anyone who wishes to engage an architectural technologist or who wishes to know more about the Institute.
Free copies may be ordered directly from BIAT by telephoning 020 7278 2206.
