Masco Announces Key Management Appointments

Masco Corporation announced on 25th April 2003 the following key management appointments and organisational changes:

• Donald DeMarie, Jr., 40, has been named a Group President with leadership responsibility for Masco's Installation Services Group, replacing Alan Barry who was recently named President and Chief Operating Officer of Masco Corporation. DeMarie will continue to directly oversee Masco Contractor Services Central; Steve Raia, 48, and Jeffrey Mollerick, 44, who are responsible for Masco Contractor Services East and Service Partners, respectively, will report to DeMarie.

• Group Vice President Donald Milroy, 67, will be responsible for oversight of Alsons Corporation, Bath Unlimited and H & H Tube, in addition to his current management duties overseeing Brass Craft, Cobra Products and The Faucet Queens. Milroy will report to John Wills.

• Group President John Wills, 49, will assume overall leadership responsibility for Masco's domestic plumbing products operations, including faucets, fittings and accessories. Wills will remain as President of Delta Faucet Company, with Delta Faucet Canada and Brasstech reporting to him.

'I have great confidence in these management professionals and know that their leadership, expertise and experience will be very beneficial to Masco in the future,' said Masco President Alan Barry. 'We appreciate their continued contribution to the Company's success.'

Donald DeMarie began his career in 1985 as General Manager of the Las Vegas branch office of Gale Insulation and served in a variety of management positions, including Regional Manager of Gale's West Coast Operations, Vice President of Corporate Development and Senior Vice President, spearheading Gale Industries' growth and expansion activities. In 1997, DeMarie was made Executive Vice President and in 1999 became President and Chief Executive Officer of Gale Industries (renamed Masco Contractor Services Central). He is a graduate of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., with a bachelor's degree in accounting.

During his tenure as President/CEO of Gale Industries, DeMarie has overseen nearly $1 billion of service company sales from more than 190 locations. Currently, Masco Contractor Services has revenues of over $2.0 billion, employs 13,000 people, and installs products in homes throughout the United States.

Donald Milroy joined Brass Craft in 1983 as Vice President of Operations and served in a variety of management positions before being named President of Brass Craft Canada Ltd., in 1984. He was named President of Alsons Corporation in 1993, returning to Brass Craft as President in 1996. He was promoted to the position of Group Vice President in 1999. Milroy is a graduate of the Minnesota School of Business and the University of Western Ontario's Management Training Course.

John Wills joined Masco in 1993 as President of Trayco and served in a number of operational and marketing positions before being named Corporate Vice President, Sales and Marketing. In 1999, Wills was named President of the Plumbing Products Division with responsibility for Masco's flagship Delta faucet brand and other faucet, fittings and accessories companies. He was appointed Group President in 2001. Wills is a chemical engineering graduate of McGill University in Montreal and a graduate of Masco's MBA program conducted in partnership with Eastern Michigan University.


Masco Names Alan Barry President and Chief Operating Officer

Masco Corporation recently announced the appointment of Alan Barry as President and Chief Operating Officer. Alan succeeds former President and Chief Operating Officer Ray Kennedy who passed away unexpectedly earlier this year.

Alan Barry joined Brass Craft Manufacturing Company in 1972 as Controller, became President of that Masco division in 1988 and a Group President of Masco Corporation in 1996. He has broad business experience including finance, manufacturing, customer development, acquisitions and general operating management.

Throughout his career, Mr Barry developed important relationships with customers in the wholesale, homebuilder and retail channels. He has been instrumental in creating and managing Masco Contractor Services, the industry's largest organisation for the installation of insulation and other products for new home construction. Currently, Masco Contractor Services, with revenues of over $2.0 billion, employs 13,000 people, and installs products in homes throughout the United States. He has spearheaded the acquisition and internal development of the companies assembled to create this extensive capability. In addition, he currently has operating responsibility for other Masco manufacturing divisions with revenues approaching $1.0 billion.

Alan currently serves on the boards of directors of the H. W. Kaufman Financial Group and Arch Aluminum & Glass Co., Inc. He also served as an Executive Board member of the Plumbing Manufacturing Institute from 1985 through 2000, and as Chairman of the Institute in 1994. In addition, he served on the Executive Board of the Associate Member Division of The American Supply Association during 1995 and 1996. He and his wife, Karen, reside in Commerce Township, Michigan.


Synseal Welcomes New Director

Synseal Extrusions Ltd welcomes Brian Onions as Information Director. With a working history in manufacturing as a finance director and consultant, Brian brings with him broad experience. His role is to implement the necessary changes for Synseal's growth to continue to the next level.

Versatile Developing Business

Versatile Ltd, designer and manufacturer of the all GRP conservatory roof, recently welcomed a new face on to the team. Martin Hodgson, New Business Development Manager, joins the company with over 25 years experience in the construction and building industry.

'When I saw the product I found it impressive, truly unique,' says Martin, 'but since joining the company I've been even more impressed with the way Versatile work in partnership with both fabricators and installers. Versatile is truly customer driven.'

The company is developing a new roof bar, which like the ring beam, will be supplied as a pultruded GRP section, offering higher strength and a more consistent, 'engineered' product for ease of handling and construction. It will also negate the need for reinforcement on the more conventional sizes of conservatories.

Martin is looking forward to playing an integral role in the expanding company and will be working closely with Wayne Curtis, technical sales manager. 'There are some great opportunities for fabricators and installers,' continues Martin. 'Apart from the product differentiation, the Versatile roof provides a wealth of advantages over others in the market.'

Status Doubles Field Sales Support

Status Systems has altered the structure of its sales force, effectively doubling the amount of resources out in the field.

Each area manager will be supported by a dedicated account manager who will be responsible for the day to day care of each individual Status fabricator. The account managers will spend the majority of their week out in the field, maintaining close personal contact with the fabricators.

Status sales director Roy Shipley commented:

'Over the last couple of years our sales team has been exceptionally proactive and successful in winning new business. Finding the right balance between on-going customer support and continuing the new business drive was putting pressure on their time. Introducing dedicated account managers will redress this balance. The area managers will retain a strong lead in commercial issues for our fabricator customers, and their account managers will provide the extra resources to underpin this support.'

Roofs for Conservatories Direct - New Key Appointment

Clearview (Yorkshire) Ltd has appointed Grant Draper as northern area sales representative.

New Managing Director at Glaverbel UK

Peter Allen has been appointed Managing Director of Glaverbel UK, succeeding Jonathan Hill who retired. He began his career with Midland Glass Group Ltd and joined the United Builders Merchant Group Plc afterwards before taking over the management of PPG Industries UK Ltd. Peter then set up his own company, acting as an agent for Hegla GmbH, a manufacturer of glass processing equipment.

With over 25 years of experience in the flat and automotive glass industry. Peter says: 'Glaverbel is a key supplier to independent glass stockists and processors throughout Britain and Ireland. The Glaverbel team in Britain has been very successful with year-on-year sales increases. The market now demands ever higher performance glasses and service, which plays to Glaverbel strengths in R&D and customer care. Pilkington Announces New Sales and Marketing Appointments

Pilkington has announced three new appointments to its Sales and Marketing team, with effect from 1st April 2003.

Stephen Tinsley has been promoted to Sales Support Manager responsible for UK and Ireland and will report directly to David Stoker National Sales Manager.

Stephen originally joined the export sales division of Pilkington 32 years ago and has worked through various departments within the business including purchasing, graduate recruitment, and customer service. He is married with one teenage daughter, and can be found in his spare time unwinding from a busy week in the office on the golf course.

Joe Wilkinson has been appointed to Customer Service Section Manager taking responsibility for the UK customers. Joe joined Pilkington 36 years ago working within the distribution department. His hobbies include watching football and he is a keen Philuminist (matchbox collector).

Appointed to the role of Customer Service Section Manager for non-UK customers is Carol Woods. Carol has notched up 25 years service with the company originally starting within the export sales division. After a busy week tending to customer needs, Carol's idea of relaxation is gardening and socialising with friends.

Both Joe and Carol will report to Damian McAreavey, Operations Planning and Supply Manager for Europe and the UK.

Peter Clement Steels himself for Second Term

Peter Clement, MD of the Clement Windows Group Ltd, has been elected President of the Steel Windows Association (SWA) for the second time.

The SWA represents the great majority of UK steel window manufacturers, ranging in size from the smallest of craft-based companies through to large, multi-site companies. It supports its member companies with a wide-ranging service relating to product development, market research and promotion with the SWA helping to ensure that each member operates to the highest industry standards.

This is the second time that Peter Clement has won the presidency of the prestigious industry organisation. It was in 1989, at the age of 34, when he was voted in as the youngest ever Chairman of the SWA, becoming an important industry authority overnight and people throughout the industry were turning to Peter for help and advice.

Peter Clement, who also sits on the Fenestration Self Assessment Scheme (FENSA) Board of Directors, was elected for the position by the members of the SWA as a result of his knowledge, dedication and passion for the industry coupled with his success as a businessman, having taken his company Clement Windows from a small family owned business to a multimillion pound company.

Ultraframe Invests in new Marketing Director

Ultraframe (UK) Ltd has announced the appointment of Helen Fothergill as Marketing Director. Helen joins the Board with immediate effect, taking on direct responsibility for all marketing programmes and assisting in ensuring that the company fulfils its strategic and operational objectives and continues to grow sales. Nico Appoints Adrian Berry as Area Sales Manager for the South West

Adrian is a sales professional with some 25 years' experience in front line sales and marketing, including many years as a senior Sales Manager with Philips Consumer Electronics.

Synseal welcomes Laurie Greenard as Global Roof Sales Manager, joining the company specifically for the new Global roof now available for installers and fabricators of any system. Having worked for another systems company for thirteen years prior to joining, Laurie brings a wealth of experience with her. Duraflex Steers Sales Drive

Systems supplier, Duraflex, has further strengthened its sales team with the appointment of Fred Doodey as Area Sales Manager for West Wales and the South West of England.

Fred joins Duraflex with 20 years industry experience, the vast majority of which is in PVCu system sales.
