Bohle brings Palmer Mirror Mastics to the UK

Bohle UK has announced that it has successfully completed a deal to bring the most established and famous mirror-mastic products in North America to the UK.

Palmer Products have been the leading mirror-mastics in the USA since Lawrence Palmer began manufacturing them way back in 1911. Still a family business, Palmer offer a range of products for the installation and production of mirrors including mastics in cartridges, tins, and drums, mirror- back paints and structural mastics for curtain walling.

"Whilst the use of these types of products is well established and widespread in this country, choice in the UK has been very limited", Gary Dean of Bohle told us, " there has only been one choice of this type of product from another USA producer and a few European companies, but perhaps the worlds oldest, best known and best regarded products- Palmer- have not been available to the UK market. When I discovered this I just could not resist adding these products to our range, the Palmer Company are highly experienced and competent in this field and the products reputation for nearly 70 years now speaks for itself"

Bohle UK are the only and official distributor of Palmer Products for the UK and Eire and will showcase the products at this years Glassex on their main stand A040.

GTI Kombimatec launches the NIPPA at Glassex

David Parsons at GTI Kombimatec would like us to draw your attention to a new machine, the NIPPA, being launched at Glassex 2002, on Stand D036.

'As you know the market is moving towards installing windows that nearer replicate the traditional wooden window styles by incorporating moulded features in the extruded profiles', says David.

'Hitherto manufacturing windows using profiles that incorporate decorative mouldings such as Ogee, Ovolo, and double bevel features have been a bit of a nightmare for fabricators. This is because cleaning the inside corner after welding either by hand or machine has proved costly, time consuming and the results have not always been acceptable - especially on woodgrain
finished profiles,' he adds

'We have applied for patents on a quick but effective method of preparing profiles in a such a way to avoid developing a sprue in the area of the moulding and therefore eliminating the need for cleaning.

'We believe the new NIPPA will revolutionize the industry because it allows many more fabricators the affordability of manufacturing windows using decorative profiles already available from several system suppliers.

Go to town with brown

Ultralite 500, Ultraframe's lean-to conservatory roofing system, has just got even better - its brown version has achieved BBA accreditation, giving it a life expectancy of at least 25 years
Ultralite is now available in a BBA accredited white or brown finish and with PVC
or polycarbonate glazing panels, offering the consumer a real choice of finish for their conservatory.

The Ultralite 500 PVC consrevatory system - or roof in a box - is a popular cost effective and lightweight conservatory roof design. Comprising of Ultralite 500PC panels zipped together by aluminium I beams and including PVCu firring, top cap and gable edge trim, it is a very flexible and easy to install roofing system for most domestic applications.

While incorporating many of the same features as the PVC product, the 35mm, 4 wall, high strength polycarbonate system has high insulation properties (1.5 Wm-2K-1).

In addition, a patented ventilated wall plate ensures effective year round ventilation. This, combined with Ultraframe's BBA certified slim line PVCu roof vent, ensures that the conservatory environment is always kept as fresh as possible, summer or winter.

The company says that with free spans of up to 4m without the need for purlins, and a low pitch of 21/2 deg, Ultralite is the ideal system for both domestic conservatories and commercial applications. In a domestic setting, Ultralite is a perfect solution for bungalows or where there are low eaves, while in the commercial sector, it is a quick and effective way of creating covered walkways.

Ultralite is known as the 'roof in the box' because its modular sizes and 500mm wide panel packs make for fast and easy on-site installation.

An added benefit of the polycarbonate version of Ultralite is that it is available with clear, bronze or opal glazing panels, allowing installers to offer a greater choice to the consumer. Furthermore, an optional eaves beam is also available with the polycarbonate version where extra wide doors are required in the front elevation, providing additional structural rigidity.

Ultralite's glazed panels have pre-extruded upstands that are 'zipped-up' by new aluminium reinforcing bars. These have fixing blocks that incorporate easy-to-fit end caps. It is these pre-extruded upstands that give Ultraframe and the BBA the confidence to allow fitting down to 2 1/2 deg - the lowest pitch attainable in a practical on-site situation.

Both the PVC and polycarbonate versions of Ultralite 500 are available direct from Ultraframe UK Ltd or from a network of national stockists.

ELUMATEC INTRODUCES POWERFUL NEW MACHINING CENTRES FOR ALUMINIUM AND STEEL PROFILES

Elumatec has introduced two new machining centres for processing aluminium and steel sections. Although thousands of Elumatec machines are used daily for fabricating windows and doors using PVCu profiles, it is in the handling of metal sections that the company has estabiished its world-wide reputation.

Although very similar in appearance, the Elumatec SBZ 136 and Elumatec SBZ 140 machining centres are considerably different in a number of key features. One that is common to both, however, is the precise clamping of the profile whilst all routing, drilling and tapping operations are carried out fully automatically, which prevents scratching to the surface of the section. Another feature common to both is the ability for the operator to feed and clamp a second profile whilst the first is being processed (standard feature over 6.2 m working length).

The Elumatec SBZ 136 utilises a 3 axis machining system controlled by an industrial PC operating on the Windows NT plafform. Eight tool holders are provided which, by utilising a rotating angle head that holds 2 different tools at any one time, allows the SBZ 136 to process three sides of the profile. An optional turning unit will also allow both ends to be machined.

The Elumatec SBZ 140 further extends the extraordinary functions of these new generation machines by offering 4 axis processing of heavy duty profiles for any application, also controlled by a PC operating on Windows NT. Versatility is extended by the milling head being able to process profiles infinitely at any position between 0 deg. and 180 deg with all available tools. This makes the use of tools with special angled heads unnecessary.

A key feature of both machines is the control system, which has been designed to improve the physical and operational interface. The 15" TFT colour screen and dust proof keyboard may be adjusted to suit the operator, whilst the CD-ROM and 3.5" disk drives are easily accessed. Tables and storage for order sheets and other documentation are also provided and even a cup holder is provided!

The versatility of these machines may be further extended with the addition of 3D profile processing software provided by Elusoft, the Elumatec Group's specialist software house. The division has developed programmes that allow the operator to view all possible operations and from all angles through sophisticated graphics, even visualising the whole process prior to machining being carried out.

Elumatec says 'These machines are amongst the most versatile available today, whilst also offering users the company's unrivalled reliability and long-term durability.'
